How does a maternity photoshoot work?
Maternity photoshoots take place in my lovely studio in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. I pour my heart and soul into each and every session to capture the magic of your motherhood journey.
A pregnancy photoshoot is an incredible way to make you feel empowered and beautiful. I will guide you through the session so that I can create artistic, timeless images of you and your bump. I will show you how to pose to show off your amazing bump.
Hello, I’m Aoife!
I am a maternity photographer known for my timeless, naturally beautiful pregnancy photographs created in my gorgeous studio in Dun Laoghaire.
I feel incredibly lucky to meet and photograph each mum-to-be for her maternity photoshoot. Each woman has come to this point with her own unique history and I would love to capture you and your story in gorgeous pregnancy photos.
I know from my own two pregnancies that this is such a precious and fleeting time that you will look back on in years to come and will be so glad that you captured those memories.
As an experienced portrait photographer (I am the Irish Overall Portrait Photographer of the Year 2025) you know that you will be in safe hands.

Top Questions about Maternity Photography

Maternity sessions are ideally done between 28 and 32 weeks. This is when you have a lovely size bump but you are not in those last few weeks of pregnancy when you might not be feeling like a photoshoot! This is of course just a guide, each pregnncy is unique and I have photographed Mamas upto 39 weeks!

Of course! Parners and any older children are so welcome to come along to your pregnancy photoshoot. I will photograph you all as a family first to capture the excitement of your pregnancy with all the family. Next I will make sure that I capture a range of different images with you and your partner. Then, depending on the ages of your kids, I may suggest that your partner takes them out for a while so that you can relax and enjoy creating some beautiful images of you and your bump.

I have a selection of gorgeous dresses, bodysuits and other options for you to wear. Or of course you are very welcome to bring your own outfits to bring your own personality to your maternity photoshoot. I always love the jeans and a white shirt combo, or some of your own underwear with a shirt or blazer. The more options the better!

Wear loose comfortable clothing that doesn’t have a tight waistband. You don’t want to wear anything that will leave a mark on your bump!

Having professional hair and makeup done will always make you feel fabulous. I can recommend local salons for hair and makeup. If you prefer to do your own hair and makeup, keep it natural and soft.

Having well groomed nails will really complement your outfits. If you are having your nails done or are wearing nail polish, please make sure there are no chips. Bear in mind that a very strong nail colour will be noticeable. Depending on the types of images we are creating, softer colours may work better. We can have a chat before your session to see what would work best.

Don’t worry! I will guide you through your pregnancy photoshoot showing you how to stand and how to show off your gorgeous bump. Your session allows for plenty of time for you to relax and settle in to your photoshoot so that I can create beautiful images for you.

Bring a hairbrush/comb, hairspray and any makeup you may need for touchups. Bring a selection of underwear to wear underneath different dresses and outfits. I will send you information before your session about what will work best.

I absolutely love when I get to meet families first for their maternity shoot and then for their newborn shoot. Then we can create the ultimate before and after images! You can find more information on newborn shoots here.

Approximately 2 weeks after your session you will be invited to a viewing session, either in person or online depending on what suits. You can then choose whichever product suits you best from albums, print boxes, wall art and print collections.

The session fee for your pregnancy photoshoot is €95. Then you can choose from a gorgeous selection of wall art, albums, print boxes and prints with prices starting at €345.
